Fitzgerald showed the other side of the coin of the American dream that became corrupted in the roaring capitalism of the 1920s, and instead of learning from it, Americans are now probably on the verge of crowning another apprentice, more corrupt and dehumanized than the imagined predecessor of 100 years ago. So sad.

But back to the film, which is a brilliant masterpiece in so many different ways, from Nixon’s brilliant opening to the monstrous coming-of-age story, so incredibly played by the two main actors, Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, who should both be considered. And Ali Abbasi is a fantastic, bold and courageous director, respect!.
