An adopted Viking orphan becomes Jesus’ apprentice carpenter. The orphan, Oren, struggles as a side hustler. His experience training as a carpenter with Jesus as his mentor changes his lifestyle. The Vikings didn’t appear until about 800 years after Jesus was believed to have lived. Seriously, this is a spiritual work, a sci-fi movie, a bad MMA movie, etc. I get that people are trying to make movies about faith and Christianity, but this is overkill. How does a director get the green light to go ahead? Why not make a believable story about Jesus as a radical? You know, a thorn in the side of the Romans and the Pharisees. Or a story about the apostles and the dangers they faced in spreading the gospel. But no, let’s leave our brains at home and watch a movie about Jesus’ scrappy friend who time-traveled 800 years into the past to become a believer. They should have made him a Terminator who protects the Son of God from the Romans and the Pharisees.
